Privacy. The short version.
One paragraph: If you subscribe, I get your email and send you the newsletter. I don't sell it. I don't share it. I might reply if you write back. You can unsubscribe in one click, anytime, in any email. That's it.
What I collect
- Your email address, if and only if you give it to me by subscribing to the newsletter
- Standard anonymous analytics on what pages get visited (so I know which tools and posts to keep building)
That's all. No tracking pixels chasing you across the internet. No retargeting. No selling your data to anyone, ever.
What I use it for
- Sending you the weekly newsletter (one email, every Sunday morning)
- Replying if you reply to me โ every reply hits my actual inbox
- Aggregate analytics so I can see that something is popular, not who is reading it
Who else sees it
The newsletter is delivered through beehiiv, which is the service that stores your email and sends the messages. Their privacy policy is here. Beyond that, nobody else has access to your email.
I will never sell, rent, lease, or share your email with advertisers, partners, sponsors, or anyone else. If that ever changes, you'll hear about it in a newsletter before it does, with the option to leave first.
How to leave
Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click. You're out, immediately, no follow-up email.
If for some reason that doesn't work, email me directly at jake.giebel@gmail.com and I'll handle it within a day.
Your rights
You can ask me to:
- Show you everything I have on you (it's an email address, but still)
- Delete it permanently
- Correct it if it's wrong
Email jake.giebel@gmail.com and put "data request" in the subject. I'll handle it within 30 days, usually a lot faster.
Cookies
This site uses minimal cookies โ only what's needed for the page to function. I don't run ad cookies. If we ever add an analytics tool that drops a cookie, it'll be the privacy-respecting kind (e.g., Plausible, Fathom) and noted here.
Kids
The newsletter and tools are for everyone, but I don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you're a parent and your kid signed up without you knowing, email me and I'll remove it.
Changes
If I change this page in a way that matters to you, I'll tell you in the next newsletter before it takes effect. The boring stuff (formatting, typos) I might fix without announcing it.
